posted 08 October 2011 03:04 EDT (US) Hi This is My First Guide and well first post so please bear with me. This Guide will be on the opening Moves of the Julii If This one goes well I will also do a Scipii and Brutii Guide as well. Hope This Helps. Before we start. I Have played as The Julii many times I have came I have saw I have CONQUERED. I Know some strategies to start off with and deeper in game. I have not however finished it ever Please do not think I don't know what I'm doing as I said I have played as the Julii many times. Lets Begin. As the Julii you start off in the top of Italy and start with the 2 cites Arriminum and Arretium Before you want to do anything build a shrine in both Cites to whatever god you chose I normally do Jupiter (Gives a Public order bonus plus 5 due to public happiness and Public happiness plus 5) and maybe a Port in Ariminum so you can have sea trade with Greece and Macedonia if you so chose but it is also useful For later we will be getting a city called Segisca. But For the moment our sights will be set on completing the first senate mission that you would have got when you started. Move your Faction leader Flavius Julius into your Capital City Arretium and train 1 hasati because (I know it doesn't sound possible) you may lose up to 100 men in the attack on Segasta. Send your second general who is on the field to Segasta ATTACK I normally do fight battle instead of auto resolve (you may not kill important enemy family members and your family members may die plus you get heavier loses)and I trust more in my own ability then a computers. You Will Have 2 Hasati one veltes and 1 General What I do is normally make the veltes come up on the left side and fire o the rebel Militia while I position my cavalry behind them (I also bring One Hasati on the middle and one on the right side so completely blocking off all escape) so when My veltes have run out of spears to throw and I start my full assault it will be a unison strike from my Hasati and Cavalry on the Peasants and Pikemen There morale already weakened from the veltes throwing spears they will be a either more easy match for your men or they will route and if that happens you will be given the screen with 2 options saying Continue battle or end battle (I never end it because its fun watching them get owned with this strategy ) If you end it you will see there was VERY little loses from the veltes. Once you are back on the Campaign map click on occupy city (its to small UNLESS you didn't notice to be any use to you in enslavement and why would you want to kill them? Its just rude!!!!! ) Send your diplomat North towards Germania or east towards Greece it depends on whatever style you would like to play as. Like if you want to have a huge campaign against Gaul then I would Advise going north to get Alliances/trade rights/map info from Spain/Germania and Britain and before you attack Gaul be sure to get Map info as well so you can coordinate your strikes. And If You want to have a war with Greece or maybe Macedonia They have rich provinces but have good men even at the early part of the Campaign. Or you Could have a Alliance with them and help them and attack Gaul at the same time with there help when the Civil war comes defeating the Scipii and Brutii will be a breeze. Or maybe Allied with Pontus and Thrace you cold destroy the Greeks and Macedonians and still be able to destroy the Brutii and Scipii relatively easily. End Of Turn#1 Turn#2 with The Hasati if you lost some men then back it up in Segasta. Once Segasta is conquered instantly build a governors house then a barracks get about 3 units of town watch in Segasta. in your capital put in the order for a trader and 3 more units of Hasati in Arretium and then build a barracks in Arrinium and a trader. Move 2 generals with 1 unit of Hasati each by the river (NOT merged separated) one by the bridge and 1 a little further away and up the river thus giving you a strategic point when a enemy gets into your heartland. I normally put in the commission once this is done for another 3 Hasati I know its a lot but It will be a garrison for Segasta and the other cites while your main army is attacking Patavium and the other Gallic village. Also Build a port in Arrinium. Turn#3 OK we have Gaul watched with the Forts Now that the Forts are there you can take the Generals out if you wish. Also build the Barracks in Segasta I talked about earlier once that is done like said above commission 3 units of town watch as a garrison for Segasta. and a Bireme in Arrinium. You will probably either be on very low cash now or bankrupt so for the next couple of turns we wont be building anything. Turn#4 OK Port done Ship built your garrisons are OK. Its time to take Segastica gather some troops and put them and a general in the ship (I never use Flavius because I use him to take Patavium and the other Gallic Village) and head over to Segastica if you unloaded your troops in a good place maybe you will be able to siege Segastica on that turn but otherwise you will have to wait till next turn. Turn#5 ok some of the buildings you commissioned will be built by now your income should be reasonably steady and the big spending spree is over (The first time I played I was getting loads of money and spending it all on buildings but I was commissioning whole queues of buildings and whole queues of Soldiers and I quickly went bankrupt) you will need to build every couple of turns but stop spending for a while to gain up your cash so you wont go bankrupt. Turn#6-12. Ok before i begin this turn ill say this. Yes Im back ill be continueing it now. Ok Money money money. Were low on cash brilliant. We have a income bonus now from Segestica so we will be able to hold some more troops. The Troops that are already in commision should suffice for the time being. But they will still be in quee for another turn or to so put in a couple buildings in quee in EVERY city as you will be concentrating on Taking Patavium and Mediolioum. -Dont litraly Skip by continusly spaming the 'end turn' button cause you will miss VERY important info. Cause my Capital Upgraded and I almost missed it!!!!!!! -Little tip for the newcomers NEVER no matter what over look a 'town' upgrade building. Listed as below. -Govermnors House= Town. -Governors Villa= Large Town. -Governors Palace= Minor City. -Pro-Consal Palace= Large City. -Imperial Palace= Huge city. There you have it. If you ever see the name of ANY of those buildings. uncommision any buildings and build it (yes even if your mostly way through something) skip to whatever turn you have your Hastati commisioned Maybe turn 12 if you commisioned the 6 Hasati. Ok Its now time to have a go on Gaul. I know we have a lot of 'Gaul' to do this . Ok back to RTW In the space of 'those' turns hopefuly you should have got a 'suitable Husband' pop up or a General come of age hopefuly whatever one you got(or both) Have soem command talent because each one will be equiped with 3 Hasati (Flavius is to have 3 Hasati plus his originale army) Flavius will takr out the stronger of the cities (its not specific I simply mean the one with more troops) But it is saafer weather its got more troops or not to make Flavius get Mediolium because it has a 'connection' to the Gaul heart land. But its your call. The way I build is. Happiness building(E.g Shrine,Sewers) Income building (E.g Trader's,Roads) Military building (E.g Barracks,Stables and Archery Ranges) That is also the order of importance I go in meaning Military comes last (yes even in wars you cant have a army if you cant afford one and you cant have a army if here is no people to recruit) This concludes the opening Moves guide. Hope this Helped!!!!!!! I am Julius Caesar I am Emperor and King of Rome. [This message has been edited by KingofRome (edited 03-04-2012 @ 01:29 AM).] | |

posted 10 October 2011 23:37 EDT (US) 6 / 20 Please double-enter after each paragraph, it's quite difficult to read your guide the way it's formatted now. And if you're looking to submit this for the main site, which I assume you are, then you should probably think about reformatting it and getting rid of the spelling and presentation issues, like these: Also and a The way I build is:And paragraphs like these are just hard to read.
